As someone who’s navigated the wellness world for over a decade, inspired by many doctors, nutritionists and health experts, I’ve become instinctively cautious of hype. Working in marketing, I’ve seen firsthand how trends are packaged and sold.
Health and vitality in today’s world isn’t found in quick fixes but in a synergistic, scientifically-grounded approach that honours the body as a complex, interconnected system. This is why my recent visit to Lisa Franklin’s Clinic Privé for their press event in partnership with NADclinic resonated with me so much. The event felt like witnessing an inspiring shift in wellbeing in the UK, which was innovative and considered.

True, lasting wellness rarely comes from a single miracle solution...
For years, Lisa Franklin has been a prominent expert in her field of holistic skin health. Her clinic’s evolution into a full-scale wellness sanctuary, encompassing skin, eyes, hair, body, and crucially, women’s health and brain wellness, has already signalled a move away from fragmented aesthetics towards integrated care. This collaboration with NADclinic, a global leader in evidence-led NAD+ therapies, isn’t just an add-on; it’s a powerful fusion of philosophies.

The Ethos: Alignment in a Fragmented World
Walking into Lisa’s clinic after flying back from abroad the day before, I was welcomed by serene interiors, a nutritious breakfast and a shot of methylene blue. No, not that blue stuff from Breaking Bad; instead of a recipe for chaos, I was treated to a recipe for cellular clarity. Methylene blue is a century-old compound studied for its role in mitochondrial function, acting as an electron carrier that can help enhance cellular energy production. It’s an energy activator at the deepest level, and it was exactly what my jet-lagged system needed. A focused, internal recharge to help clear the fog of long-haul travel and sync me back to the present moment.
One thing that impressed me at Lisa’s clinic was the palpable commitment to an ethical vision. As a Certified B Corp, the Lisa Franklin Clinic operates with a conscience, a value that aligns deeply with my own journey.

Now, NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a coenzyme vital for cellular repair, energy metabolism, and DNA health. Its decline is a hallmark of ageing. NADclinic’s premium infusion therapies are designed to replenish this critical molecule, supporting the body’s innate repair mechanisms from the cellular level up.
Research continues to show that fundamentals like Vitamin D and NAD+ are not optional supplements but essential cornerstones for optimal, full-spectrum health. Vitamin D acts as a regulator for immune function, mood, and bone integrity, while NAD+ is supportive in a similar sense for longevity, the body’s daily operational needs and resilience.
So the opportunity to document and participate in this collab was exciting. I first read about NAD in the final chapters of Dr. Michael Greger’s book, “How Not To Age.” It was there, after hundreds of pages of nutritional insight, that he detailed the promising science behind NAD+ boosters, framing them not as magic bullets but as potential complements to a foundational lifestyle. While NAD+ therapies have since surged into the public market and consciousness, even showcased by the Kardashians, my introduction was through this lens of rigorous, evidence-based scientific documentation.

Greger’s work fundamentally shaped my own path. His first book, “How Not To Die”, with a data-dense 500+ pages, was a cornerstone in inspiring and sustaining my vegan lifestyle over a decade ago. It did more than recommend plants; it instilled a value for reading, research, and peer-reviewed, scientifically-backed data over social media fallacies, fleeting fads, and wellness gimmicks. That commitment to discernment is why I’m happy to share my experience with Lisa and NADclinic; the alignment is seamless as both brands are dedicated to science-led, ethical and holistic care. The premise of wellness isn’t about chasing youth; it’s about cultivating sustainable vitality.
Where Outer Glow Meets the Inner Engine

What excites me most about theory is the practical application. At Lisa Franklin Clinic Privé, these NAD+ protocols don’t exist in a vacuum; they’re woven into bespoke therapy plans by a multidisciplinary team that includes an Oculoplastic Surgeon, a Gynaecologist, a Clinical Hypnotherapist, and regenerative medicine experts.
Imagine a plan that addresses perimenopausal fatigue and skin changes not with isolated treatments, but with a cohesive strategy of NAD+ infusions to combat cellular energy decline, combined with hormone-responsive skincare, expert-led menopause support, and neuroscience-informed wellness practices. This is the true meaning of a 360° approach, addressing the root cause, not just the symptom. It reflects an understanding I’ve long held: that radiant skin is often a reflection of internal optimisation, and that lasting wellbeing requires us to look at stress, lifestyle, and cellular health as part of the same picture.
My Experience and Personal Reflection

During my visit to the clinic, after taking the methylene blue, I received an antioxidant IV infusion of Vitamin C, and then I got to try the NAD+. All definitely gave me a boost in energy and mood that morning. I was also kindly gifted a month’s supply of NAD, which I’ll be trialling and tracking on my Instagram.
This was more than a new treatment menu; It’s a blueprint for a modern, sophisticated approach to ageing and wellness. One that’s empowering, ethical, and unparalleled in expertise.
As an anthropologist observing wellness trends, I appreciated the invite, particularly through the lens of my own lived experience. As a Black woman of African descent living in London, my relationship with health and wellness has always been significant, yet nuanced. Over the past decade, I’ve read, researched and sifted through data that realistically acknowledges that a “perfect” diet and exercise regime, while powerful, isn’t the sole defence against the multifaceted ravages of environment. The critical need for Vitamin D, for example, as someone born and raised in a city like London, takes on a particular urgency, especially in the darker months. As a Black person, my melaninated skin synthesises Vitamin D from sunlight far less efficiently, meaning I need more sun exposure to make the same amount of vitamin D as someone with lighter skin.
For a dark-skinned person living in a place like London, which has limited strong sunlight for much of the year, it can be difficult to get enough vitamin D from sun exposure alone. This makes us more susceptible to vitamin D deficiency, which is why supplementation or seeking sunlight elsewhere (like travel) becomes an important, conscious health strategy.
It's a characteristic that requires a different environmental context to function optimally.
The ideal “one hour of sunshine” has been a geographical challenge I’ve had to navigate for most of my life, and of all the high-dose supplements I’ve taken, none have compared to natural vitamin D synthesis from the sun exposure I’ve gotten abroad. This vitamin D example underscores a larger truth: while the foundation of wellbeing is about maintaining a lifestyle you control, intelligently bridging the gaps with personalised, evidence-based solutions is an essential part of that strategy.

This is precisely why the model at Lisa Franklin Clinic Privé feels so progressive. The future of genuine health is not in more aggressive, singular interventions or in chasing a plethora of isolated pills and procedures. It is in intelligent, personalised integration. It’s the sophisticated meeting point of cutting-edge regenerative medicine, like NAD+ therapy to address cellular decline, and a holistic philosophy that truly considers the individual from their genetic heritage and hormonal landscape to their constraints and personal goals. It moves beyond a one-size-fits-all wellness script to a collaborative plan where you hold the power of your foundational habits, supported by clinical expertise that helps you optimise what your lifestyle alone cannot.
